How to create your profile on the DNA Doula Directory
Your profile is your chance to introduce yourself to families across Australia who are looking for the right doula for their journey. Follow the steps below to get set up - it should only take around 10–15 minutes.
đź’ˇ Tip: If you saved your old profile information from the previous directory, have it nearby - it will make this process even quicker!

Step 1 - Go to the new directory
Open your web browser and go to: [INSERT NEW DIRECTORY URL]
Step 2 - Click 'Add Your Listing'
Look for the button that says 'Add Your Listing', 'Create a Profile', or similar. This will typically be in the top navigation bar or in a prominent position on the homepage.
Click the button to begin.
Step 3 - Create your account / log in
- You will be asked to create an account or log in. If you are setting up a profile for the first time on this new platform, you will need to create a new account.
- Enter your email address and create a password.
- Check your email for a verification link and click it to confirm your account.
- Return to the directory and log in.
Step 4 - Enter your personal details
You'll now be guided through a series of fields. Fill in your:
- Full name (or business name if you operate under one).
- Location - your suburb/town and state, so families can find doulas near them.
- Contact details - email address and/or phone number.
- Website and social media links (optional but recommended).
Step 5 - Write your bio
This is the most important part of your profile! Your bio is your chance to connect with families before they even contact you.
Some things to consider including:
- Who you are and what draws you to doula work.
- The type of support you offer (birth, postnatal, or both).
- Your training, qualifications, and years of experience.
- Your approach and what makes you unique.
- Any special areas of focus (e.g. VBAC support, multiples, LGBTQIA+ inclusive, etc.).
đź’ˇ Tip: Write in a warm, personal tone - as if you're introducing yourself to a family in person. Keep it clear and easy to read.
Step 6 - Select your services and specialisations
Tick or select the services you offer. This may include:
- Birth doula support
- Postnatal / newborn doula support
- Antenatal education
- Placenta services
- Closing the bones
- Any other specialisations relevant to your practice.
Step 7 - Add your photo
Rather than uploading a file, the new directory uses a photo link (URL). This means you’ll need to provide a direct web address that links to your photo. The easiest way to do this is by using a photo that’s already on your doula website.
How to get your photo link from your website:
- Go to your doula website and find the photo you’d like to use (your headshot or a professional image of yourself).
- Right-click on the image (on a desktop or laptop) and select “Open image in new tab” or “Copy image address” / “Copy image link”.
- If you choose “Open image in new tab”, copy the full URL from the address bar - it should end in .jpg, .jpeg, or .png.
- Paste that link into the photo URL field on your directory profile.
💡 Tip: If your photo doesn’t have a direct image URL (e.g. it’s behind a page rather than a standalone file), you can also upload your photo to the directory (max 3MB and 3 images). However we do recommend and prefer using the URL option as this helps to promote and build traffic to your website via backlinking.
💡 Tip: Photos make a significant difference to how families engage with your profile. Choose a clear, well-lit image where your face is visible - it doesn’t need to be a formal headshot, just warm and professional.
Image sizes:
Logo Image: Recommended size: 100x100 pixels (max file size 3.0kb, Max 1 Images
Listing images: Recommended size: 1080x608 pixels (max files size 3.0kb, 3 images max)
Step 8 - Review and submit your profile
Before you submit, take a moment to:
- Read through your bio for any typos or things you'd like to tweak.
- Check your contact details are correct
- Make sure your photo has been uploaded correctly.
Once you're happy, click 'Submit' or 'Publish'. Your profile may need to go through a short approval process before it appears live on the directory - we'll let you know if this is the case.
You're all done!Â
Your profile is now on its way to being seen by families across Australia. đź’š
